A sea right by the city

Baku stands on the shore of the Caspian Sea, on the Absheron peninsula, which juts into the water for dozens of kilometres. Thanks to this the capital of Azerbaijan has its own summer by the sea: along the northern and eastern coast of Absheron stretch dozens of sandy beaches.

The Caspian is the largest lake on earth, warm and less salty than the ocean. In summer both locals and visitors come here to swim and relax: from simple public beaches to modern resorts with pools and clubs. Dozens of beaches along the sea

The sandy shores of Absheron stretch the length of the whole peninsula — from Shikhov nearest the city to the northern Novkhani, Nardaran and Bilgah. Each beach has its own character: some quiet and wild, others with loungers, cafés and pools.
